Preventing the Flu

Get a Flu Vaccine
The CDC recommends a flu vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older.
The flu vaccine can reduce flu illnesses, doctors' visits, and missed work and school due to the flu.

Take Preventative Actions
Avoid contact with sick people, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, wash your hands often, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Take Flu Antivirals if Prescribed
If you get the flu, antivirals can help make the illness milder or shorten the time you are sick.
