What is Harm Reduction?

Harm reduction is a public health approach that focuses on mitigating the harmful consequences of drug use, including transmission of infectious disease and prevention of overdose, through provision of care that is intended to be free of stigma and centered on the needs of people who use drugs.*

Harm Reduction Vending Machine

Huron County Public Health (HCPH), in conjunction with the HEALing Communities Study (HCS) has installed a harm-reduction vending machine at HCPH's Norwalk location (28 Executive Dr., Norwalk, OH 44857) that provides 24/7/365 FREE access to naloxone (under the brand name Kloxxado) for the general public. 

In addition to naloxone, the vending machine is stocked with practical public health resources (while supplies last), including:

Project DAWN locations in Ohio provides additional ways to obtain naloxone, including programs that will mail naloxone to Huron County residents.
