Infants, Children and Teen Vaccinations
Vaccine-preventable disease levels in the United States are at or near record lows. However, this is not the case around the world. Even though most infants and toddlers in the United States have received all recommended vaccines by age 2, many under-immunized children remain, creating the possibility of disease outbreaks.
Children who have not had all of their infant immunizations are at risk for getting these diseases from the people who care for them. Many teens and adults are missing the chance to protect not only themselves, but also children under age 2 against diseases such as Hepatitis B, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), influenza, and pneumococcal disease.
The Huron County General Health District has a goal to improve and sustain immunization coverage to the county's families by offering vaccinations and information about the safety and importance of timely immunizations. The District also provides educational opportunities for private physicians offices to help them increase the number of children fully immunized by the age of 2 years. We look forward to maintaining and expanding this public health success story in the years to come.
We accept all Medicaid. Each injection is $10.00 for children. There is also a $20.00 office charge. No child is turned away for Vaccines For Children (VFC) vaccines if their family is unable to pay for the shots. For families covered by private insurance, we can give you a receipt for the vaccines given for you to turn into your insurance company.
