Environmental Programs - Public Health Nuisance Complaints

A Public Health Nuisance is defined as “any condition which is injurious or potentially injurious to the health and safety of the public, or which pollutes the air, land, or water.” The Huron County Health Department will investigate nuisance complaints from citizens and other entities. Generally, we investigate nuisances outside of the house or building (E.g. residential septic system failing with sewage in yard or ditch, garbage in yard, etc.).

We do not do the interior of single family homes unless it affects the public health in the area of the nuisance (i.e. living conditions in an apartment affecting surrounding apartments).
